Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer

Schrader Funeral Home & Cremation Services is seeking a compassionate, professional, and dependable Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer to join our team in Smithers, BC.

We are looking for someone who understands that funeral service is both a profession and a responsibility. The successful candidate will provide families with compassionate guidance while ensuring the deceased are cared for with dignity, respect, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet with families and arrange funeral and memorial services.
• Prepare and complete contracts, authorizations, legal documents, and service records.
• Provide respectful care of the deceased, including transfers, embalming, dressing, and preparation as required.
• Coordinate and assist with visitations, funeral services, cemetery services, and cremations.
• Drive funeral vehicles and assist with service logistics, including setup, parking, flowers, and personal items.
• Provide compassionate aftercare and support to families following services.
• Assist with pre-need arrangements and referrals where appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable BC regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies.
• Maintain a safe, professional, and respectful work environment.
• Represent Schrader Funeral Home positively within our community.

Qualifications

• Hold a dual license in good standing.
• Previous funeral service experience is preferred.
• Valid driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of funeral service.
