Sara is a director on the External Relations and Advocacy Committee

Sara started in the funeral profession in Central Alberta in 1998, completing her apprenticeship as a funeral director and embalmer in 2000. She spent the majority of her career in BC and is currently the General Manager of the Kamloops area of funeral homes with Dignity Memorial, including Schoening Funeral Service, First Memorial, Merritt Funeral Chapel and Pine Grove Crematorium.

Sara is an enthusiast for life and wants to live all the minutes of it fully, sitting with the grieving, being involved with the community, doing challenging physical things, and exploring the world.  She is married to husband Tom, and enjoys hanging out with (being ignored by) her 2 teenage sons and being adored by her pug, Nacho.

Sara is happy to join the board of the BCFA to contribute to the growth of the profession she has loved for over 25 years.
